In 1977 Joe took his talent and relocated to Fort Lauderdale Florida where he worked as a Public Defender until entering private practice to focus on criminal litigation. As a public defender, he won five consecutive felony cases including a highly publicized capital case. His aggressive approach to defense strategy led him to win 80 percent of his cases between 1981 and 1991. Joe’s success as a criminal defense attorney over those 10 years laid the platform for his rise as a community leader.

In 1982 he was elected to the United States House of Representatives after defeating the Vice Mayor of Coral Springs and another well known local politician. During his political career as the Representative for Northwest Broward County Joe served as the Vice Chair on the House Judiciary Committee. He was subsequently reelected in 1984 and served on the Residential Planned Development Study Commission. During his time in office, he became heavily involved in the restructuring of Florida’s laws regarding judicial candidacy. His influence changed the laws that would benefit Florida citizens for years to come. Under his leadership the law now states that any candidate seeking a judiciary position must have been a practicing attorney for a minimum of five years.

After representing his community in public office, he returned to private practice to continue perusing justice for Florida citizens. He currently represents Click Interconnect, Inc. an application service provider for internet telecommunications based in Fort Lauderdale. In addition to Broward County, Joe serves clients in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and other areas within the state of Florida.

Throughout his distinguished career, Joe has represented large corporations, small business and individuals. As a criminal defense lawyer and personal injury attorney his commitment to his clients and his superior knowledge of upper level government are what make him successful.
